P-3 Visa

The P-3 Visa is a non-immigrant visa for artists and entertainers coming to the U.S. to perform, teach, or coach as part of a culturally unique program. This visa is ideal for individuals or groups showcasing traditional, ethnic, folk, or culturally significant performances.

The P-3 visa is initially granted for up to 1 year and can be extended in 1-year increments for continued engagements.

How to Apply for P-3 Visa

  • Employer or Sponsor Files Form I-129: A U.S.-based employer, agent, or sponsor submits Form I-129 with evidence proving the cultural uniqueness of the program. Typically takes 2-6 months; Premium Processing (15 days) is available.
  • Submit Supporting Evidence: Documents proving eligibility including proof that the performance or program is culturally unique, contracts or invitations from U.S. venues, sponsors, or festivals, affidavits from industry experts, cultural organizations, or historians, and media coverage, awards, or past performances.
  • Wait for USCIS Approval: If approved, USCIS issues a Form I-797 (Approval Notice).
  • Apply for a Visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate: Complete Form DS-160 and schedule a visa interview. Bring valid passport, Form I-797 approval notice, proof of cultural uniqueness (media coverage, expert endorsements, historical significance), and contracts or event details in the U.S.
  • Enter the U.S. & Perform: Once the visa is approved, the applicant can enter the U.S. and legally perform, teach, or coach in culturally unique programs.
